The science classes offered at the school are designed to be multidisciplinary. In collaboration with teachers of Arts, English, and Design, Science teachers develop an integrative core curriculum that provides project-based learning opportunities. Science teachers ensure that students adopt a practical approach to learning by developing their curiosity about the subject. Students conduct independent experiments in the lab and engage in scientific inquiry by questioning their surrounding environment. We adopt an integrative approach to teaching that incorporates our curriculum through project-based experiential learning. This method draws from the physical, life, and earth sciences while also including robotics and engineering.
As a General Science teacher at the Secondary level, you shall:
● Ensure that students achieve key learning outcomes in science by emphasizing individualized learning and addressing their unique needs
● Develop and implement content-based learning opportunities that provide students access to educational materials while cultivating their skills for practical, goal-oriented projects in the real world
● Be open to building relationships with both parents and colleagues to create an atmosphere of welcome, encouragement, and transparency
● Create a culture of learning where students not only appreciate their education but also take pride in being part of a vibrant learning community
